Watching Demi Lovato’s “Stay Strong” special
And I’m actually kinda excited. Not gonna lie, I didn’t really pay much attention to Demi before Skyscraper and the whole rehab thing. I loved the Camp Rock movies, but I watched them more for the Jonas Brothers than Demi. And over the years, I would hear little things about her that would make me think “why? Just why? I mean, how many bad mistakes can one person make?” She just seemed to latch on to all the wrong people. From behind the computer screen, I worried for her. I figured she was well on the way to becoming another Lindsey Lohan. And then the rehab thing happened, I kinda just shrugged it off. Oh well, another teen starlet who couldn’t handle it. She cited eating disorder and self harm, but due to some things I’ve seen, I figured it was just a cover up for other things (I still suspect that there may have been other things going on that we don’t know about).
But then Skyscraper came out, and I was forced to listen to her with a different mindset. It was a good song. And I was proud of her, happy for her. She hit rock bottom, but she was able to pick herself back up. I like her for the same reason I’ve always loved Miley Cyrus: she’s real. She’s honest. She’s not afraid to let people in to the fact that she’s not perfect, and I’m happy for that. I’m eager to get inside her head a bit, and judging from the first 10 minutes, I won’t be disappointed.

Michael Television.
Yeah, remember when MTV used to be about actual music?
So we’re watching Teen Mom…
…and I was thinking about how I’ve always thought it would be cool if MTV did an episode of 16 and Pregnant where one of the girls actually went through with an abortion.
I like 16 and Pregnant because with their 3 seasons so far, they have attempted to show young couples from all walks of life. The first season, the one couple Courtney and Tyler gave their baby up for adoption, and it was a really touching episode. And the last season profiled girls from different backgrounds, like one girl who was a recovering anorexic and dealing with her disease and the pregnancy weight she was gaining. Another girl last season was kicked out of her house because her mother was an alcoholic and was living with her boyfriend’s parents.
I just feel like its really important to show young girls watching that there are other options when it comes to teen pregnancy. I feel like having a girl on the show who decides to have an abortion, and to show her struggle and what that would be like for her emotionally, would actually be a really powerful episode. I think its definitely a story that millions of girls go through every day, but has yet to be told.
